Humane Endpoints Database: Search

Humane Endpoints Database introduction
Keyword Thesaurus
You may search either by:
  1. Selecting keywords from the drop-down box, or
  2. Typing author, title, or keywords into the open box.
If you use the open box, please check the Thesaurus Tree for keyword choices. You can only select a max of 15 keywords to search by, using the drop-down box.

To search for multiple keywords, please separate the terms by commas (e.g., rats, mice, birds). You can do Boolean searches using the AND and OR operators (case does not matter). The modifier NOT also is available, but it must be used with one of the operators (e.g., birds AND mammals NOT primates). So, for example, if you want to look at body temperature and body weight in a variety of rodents, you might enter something like: (rats, mouse, mice, rodents) AND (body temperature, body weight).

You will not get the same results for singular and plural search terms. For example, if you search by the keyword "dog," you will retrieve only records that have the word "dog." If you search with the keyword "dogs," you will pull all records with the keyword "dogs" and all records with the keyword "dog."

Actual selection of an endpoint should involve consultation with the laboratory animal veterinarian and the animal care and use committee.
